Perkins Generator Set Maintenance

There are four kinds of wrenches in common use: open wrench, ring wrench, adjustable wrench and socket wrench.

1.Open wrench.

Open wrenches are often used on bolts with narrow mechanical range of motion. Because its handle and head keep a certain angle (15 ° ~ 45 °), which increasing the distance of machining activity. Therefore, the turning speed can be increased, and the contact with the nut is also convenient. It can be sleeved up and down or inserted directly.

The commonly used open wrench is double end open. Its specification is indicated by the opening of the head. Wrench with different opening width is used for turning hexagon nuts or bolts of different specifications. The specifications of commonly used open-end wrenches (mm × mm) are 6 x 7, 8 x 10, 9 x 11, 10 x 12, 11 x 13, 12 x 14, 13 x 15, 14 x 17, 17 x 19, 19 x 22, 22 x 24, 24 x 27, 27 x 30 and 30 x 32, etc.

2.Double offset ring wrench.

Double offset ring wrench is characterized by a large change angle, which is used for disassembling some screws with a small rotation angle at one time. The handle part of the wrench is longer, and the wrench is more convenient. Its specification is the same as the open wrench, and it is also divided according to the opening of the head. The common specifications are the same as those of the open wrench.

The advantages of open wrench and ring wrench are reliable use and can bear large torque. Its disadvantage is that a wrench can only be used on two specifications of nuts or bolts, and its versatility is poor.

3.Adjustable wrench.

The adjustable wrench is composed of a moving plate lip, a plate mouth, a fixed plate lip, a worm gear, a handle and a shaft pin. Adjustable wrench is the most widely used spanner. When it is used, its opening can be adjusted according to the size of nut. It does not need to change spanner frequently, so it has strong adaptability. When encountering irregular nut, it can play a more important role.

Its specifications are divided according to its full length. The commonly used specifications (mm) are 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 375, 400 and 600, etc., and its largest opening width is 14mm, 19mm, 24mm, 30mm, 36mm, 46mm, 55mm and 65mm, etc. Mechanical repairmen usually use adjustable spanners below 300 mm.

When using the adjustable wrench, use the worm gear 4 to adjust the size of the spanner opening, so that the spanner can tightly clamp the nut, not too loose, otherwise the outer edge of the nut will be damaged. When screwing the larger nut, hold it close to the end of handle. When tightening the smaller nut, hold the handle. Because the required torque is not big, the hand is reliable, and the worm gear can be adjusted at any time, so that the pull lip shrinks to prevent slipping.

Adjustable wrench can not be used by reversed way. That is to say, the pull lip shall not be used as the force bearing surface, the steel pipe extension handle shall not be used to exert a larger torque, or the adjustable wrench shall not be used as a hammer. In addition, hold the spanner correctly, and make sure that the arm is at a right angle to the wrench body (this angle is the effective angle for turning the spanner).

4.Socket wrench.

Socket wrenches are also commonly used in screws with narrow mechanical range or special concealment, and can be adjusted freely. The utility model is composed of a variety of sockets of different sizes and a spanner handle (movable spanner handle, joint, universal joint head, ratchet handle, torque wrench, etc.) suitable for assembling and disassembling screws at different parts.

Socket wrench is usually installed in a special iron box, each part has its own fixed position, easy to use. Among them, the torque wrench is an indispensable tool in the generator repair work.
